The Connaught Hotel

London

Section 1 was the full refurbishment of the existing hotel, consisting of 90 guest rooms including penthouse suites. The external façade was extensively renovated and the roof, basement, ground floor and 12 Adams Row were remodelled. A new lift shaft was installed and the existing lifts replaced.

The fit out, in addition to the guestrooms included both communal areas and back of house facilities. Four kitchens were created, at a cost of over £1 million, serving in total 500 covers, and providing 24 hour room service to 120 rooms. This includes a Michelin Star kitchen for Hélène Darroze serving 100 covers.

This five star hotel refurbishment was undertaken in two sections comprising the refurbishment works to the Grade II Listed building and the new build extension.

In parallel with the refurbishment of the existing building a new build west wing was constructed, as Section 2 of the works, increasing the capacity of the hotel by fifty percent.

The new wing was built over a three-level secant piled basement, excavated to a depth of approximately 12.5m below road level.

The extension accommodated a swimming pool, health spa, fitness suite, banqueting suites, conference facilities along with 33 new suites and back of house service areas.
