After completing my degree in Psychology with Sports Science in 2013, I realised that I wanted to go into the construction industry. I have been fascinated by buildings and architecture since childhood I love to see the changes made to a building and I jumped at the opportunity for work experience at the Shangri La Hotel with Chorus which gave me the opportunity to be both site and office based.

The great thing about Byrne Group is the ability change to new companies within the Group. When I finished at the Shangri La Hotel a meeting was set up with Robert Pincham, Managing Director of Ellmer who talked me through sponsoring my studies and a great opportunity to meet and work alongside such interesting characters; with no day being the same.

I am 22 years of age and I have been with the company about 18 months. On completion of my studies I hope to be a Construction Manager, the aspects which I find interesting at present are law and economics. Since starting with the company I have completed my SMSTS/IIF/Fire Marshall and Asbestos Awareness courses.

In terms of my development I hope to successfully complete my degree course, go down the CIOB Training Partnership route and finish my current project on time!

I welcome the advice and guidance from those senior around me, and there will be a programme for me to spend time with other departments including commercial, procurement, estimating, quality and health and safety.

My current project is Hop House Redevelopment at Bedfordbury where I am responsible for the management of the Penthouse redevelopment, which has allowed me to develop my interpersonal skills as well as my management acumen.

The thing that I like most about the company is that it is a very family orientated company. It is nice to have familiarity on each project and to be working with such good people. A high percentage have been with the company for a very long period of time! They have helped me to settle in and made me feel welcome from the start.

If I was boss for the day I would implement a horrendous shirt Friday!!!
