ROYAL OPERA HOUSE

SCOPE OF WORK

Our Trade package works consisted of major structural alterations to the Royal Opera House Auditorium, which dates back to the 1850's.

This was one of the larger packages in an overall 200m project to regenerate and refurbish the Royal Opera House.

Our works consisted of removing some of the existing auditorium flooring and demolishing access staircases, replacing them with new in-situ concrete flooring and revised stair configuration, all of which resulted in better access and areas for extra seating. Ellmer also installed new in-situ concrete lift shafts and formed a revised basement layout and new orchestra pit.

Our package also involved installing major new structural steelwork, to form a new roof over the existing building, together with all roof finishes - taking great care not to damage the existing internal dome, which was being refurbished.
