SCOPE OF WORK
Ellmer Construction were appointed as the main contractor to reconstruct 175–179 Oxford Street following a serious fire and the subsequent demolition of the original building, under a design and build contract. The new building includes the formation of a deeper basement and the erection of a steel framed building with Portland stone and glass cladding to the front elevation and brickwork to the rear, forming 3 floors of retail space and 4 floors of commercial office space. The retail space was finished to a shell and core specification, whilst the offices were fitted out ready for occupation. Due to the restrictions associated with this location, access for all personnel, plant and materials had to be through the back of the building.
