Ellmer Construction acknowledge that our construction activities and operations have an impact on the environment. An assessment of our high impacts, at our operating sites has been made, and our main objectives have been identified below:

To reduce waste from sites and offices

• To reduce waste sent to landfill
• To reduce energy used for business travel, site operations and office functions
• To reduce CO2 emissions from business travel
• In order to minimise our impact on the environment, systems have been developed at our sites to identify and minimise waste produced and to recycle where practicable.

Ellmer Construction is in the process of seeking accreditation to ISO 14001, with Stage 1 in place and full accreditation programmed for March 2007. Our Environmental Policy Statement can be accessed through the following link policy statement.

Having identified our significant impacts, and taken steps to reduce our carbon emissions, we have elected to further reduce our impact on the climate by offsetting the balance of our carbon emissions from our business with Climate Care.

Climate Care is an organisation that reduces greenhouse gas emissions on behalf of companies and individuals by running projects across the world. As well as cutting greenhouse gases, the projects help to improve people’s standard of living and protect wildlife habitats. The work of Climate Care is guided by an Environmental Steering Committee. This body is non-executive and has an advisory role in upholding environmental integrity. Members include eminent environmentalists and non-Governmental organisations including WWF and Forum for Future.
